Completers of this rigorous four-year program are now eligible to apply for and be granted a journeyperson license in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVACR) from the State of Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation.
Students of Harford Community College’s Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Apprenticeship program graduated in a ceremony held at the College on April 26, 2018. Students completing their apprenticeship include Kaleb Anderson, Daniel Crouse, Coty Daughtry, Andrew Fleming, Joshua Hallameyer, Ambrose Hash, Daniel Hogan, Matt Jones, John Kropp, Ryan Lorenzo, Blake Lutz, Brad Macko, Tyshad Martin, Ryan McFadden, Christopher Passas, Brent Ruark, Joshua Scheffsky, Mark Sweitzer, Tevin Taylor, Colin Theis, Kyle Virts, Nathan Wassmer, and Dustin Williams. Completers of this four-year program will be able to apply for and be granted an HVACR journeyperson license from the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation.
The guest speaker at the ceremony was Christopher D. Maclarion, Director for Apprenticeship Training with the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation. He commended the students and their families for their commitment to the program and their perseverance in the past four years. He acknowledged the difficulty of working all day and attending class two nights a week, but remarked that being awarded a journeyperson’s license was an accomplishment that they earned and no one can take away.
The Heating and Air Conditioning Contractors of Maryland is a local trade association representing independent heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR) contractors in Central Maryland. The apprenticeship program was established in 1996 to train technicians to work in the HVACR industry. Well-trained, reliable technicians are in constant demand in the industry and employment is projected to increase 14 percent in the next decade.
