This new exhibit features large scale figurative drawings and paintings using imagery derived from observation and composite sources by artist Melanie Johnson. The Chesapeake Gallery is open Monday to Thursday, 8:30 AM to 7 PM, and Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
Harford Dance Theatre is holding auditions for Harriet’s Happiest Halloween.
Performance dates are October 18-21, 2018. Dancers 13 years of age and older may audition and wear appropriate dance attire and bring dance shoes for all styles of dance for which they wish to be considered. Combinations in all styles of dance will be given at the audition. Info: 443-412-2112
History comes alive with Maryland Humanities’ free Chautauqua living history performance series each July. The family-friendly performance, which is free and open to the public, will feature a portrayal of Eleanor Roosevelt by Susan Marie Frontczak, a living history presenter. As the First Lady of the United States, Mrs. Roosevelt played an important role in advocating for social justice. To set the stage for the dramatization, HCC instructor of music Benny Russell will hold a pre-show performance. Russell will perform an arrangement of “Nobody Knows the Trouble I’ve Seen.”
Harford County’s premier event includes includes 18 holes of golf on one of the county's best courses, lunch, awards banquet featuring surf and turf, and prizes to the top players and teams. The Kinetic Canvas series returns with an original dance theater production inspired by Post-Impressionist artist Vincent Van Gogh. This innovative performance takes the audience on a journey through the eyes of Van Gogh, with a heightened view of the natural world, exploring radiating light and powerful expressionism. An hour before each performance, audience members are invited to an informative discussion on Van Gogh and Post-Impressionism presented by Jeff Ball, Associate Professor of Visual, Performing and Applied Arts at HCC.
