Harford County Health Department to hold Free, Appointment-Only Drive Thru COVID-19 Testing Event on August 11: Registration Required.


Due to the tropical storm predicted to hit our area this week, Harford County Health Department’s COVID-19 testing scheduled for August 4 will be postponed to August 11. For those who have already registered, the Health Department will follow up with further details as soon as they know more information.

As the demand for increased COVID-19 testing continues, the Harford County Health Department, in partnership with the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health (UM UCH), Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium, Aberdeen Police Department, the Maryland Department of Health, and Harford County Government will provide free drive-thru COVID-19 testing for ages 12 and older. The Health Department encourages anyone who thinks they have come in close contact with anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19, has traveled out of state, or has attended a large gathering, to get tested.

The free testing will take place by appointment only on Tuesday, August 11, from 9 AM to 3 PM on the parking lot of Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium, 873 Long Drive in Aberdeen. Registration is required to reserve your place in line; register at You must arrive on time for your appointment, remain in your car at all times, and wear a mask. Identification is required and you need not be a Harford County resident to receive a test.

  • Do I need a doctor’s order?
    No. No doctor’s order is needed.
  • Do I need to do anything in preparation for my test?
    You must register, bring your ID and your mask. You will be asked to stay in your car at all times.
  • Will I still be able to get tested if it’s raining?
    Yes. The drive thru testing will still continue rain or shine.
  • Do I have to live in Harford County to get a test?
    No. You do not need to be a Harford County resident.
  • How old do you have to be to get tested?
    Anyone over the age of 12 can get tested, symptoms or no symptoms.
  • Do I need to have symptoms to get tested?
    No. Anyone over the age of 12 can get tested.
  • How will I get my results?
    If you opt to receive a text message during your registration, you will receive a text message if your test is negative. If you choose not to receive a text message, a letter will be sent to your residence if your test is negative. If you are positive for COVID-19, a nurse from UMUCH will call you and let you know.
  • Will someone alert people I have been around to tell them they have been exposed to COVID-19?
    Yes. COVID-Link, the Maryland State Contact Tracing program, will contact anyone who has possibly been in contact with you.
  • When can I expect to get my results?
    The lab we are using typically produces results in 2-5 days.
  • What kind of test is going to be given?
    The test will be given by nasal swab by a nurse.

How to register for COVID-19 testing on August 11 at Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium Parking Lot:

  1. Go to: to register. Once you enter all the required demographic information, please click submit.
  2. You will then be asked to acknowledge that you have read and agree to the terms of the "COVID-19 TESTING CONSENT FORM." Click submit.
  3. On the following page, click on Ripken Stadium (Ages 12+ only).
  4. The page that comes up will say “Today’s appointments No appointments available for this location on this day, please try another day.” PLEASE GO TO THE RIGHT HAND CORNER AND SELECT NEXT AVAILABLE DAY.
  5. On the following page, choose select on the start and end time you would like.
  6. Finally, on the page titled “Available Slots Details,” you will need to review the testing center location, start time, and patient name, then click on “Book.”
