Former Harford Community College student Frances Munn Roberts, who took Professor of Arts and Humanities Colleen Webster's writing classes at HCC between 2001 and 2003, just published her first novel, The War Brides of 24th Street. Fiction based on actual events, it is a story about life in Baltimore during World War II. The novel, a combination of historical romance, family saga, and war chronicle, is available for purchase online.

Frances recently wrote to thank Colleen and inform her that she is mentioned on the Acknowledgements page of the novel, saying "Many thanks for the immeasurably useful writing skills your teaching encouraged. I will always be grateful. To help you remember who I am, I was by far the oldest student in the class, and you and I both shared a love of Dorothy Parker's short stories."
