Harford Community College is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), which requires colleges and universities to go through the reaccreditation process every eight years. MSCHE accreditation is required to disperse federal aid and award degrees to students; it also serves as an evaluation tool that allows for self-reflection and improvement.
The MSCHE reaccreditation process begins with a self-study to assess the College’s progress along seven standards:
At HCC, the self-study process is being led by co-chairs Dr. Lisa Tittle (Professor of English) and Gina Calia-Lotz (Instructional Services Librarian and Interim Library Director), along with a steering committee and a series of work groups focused on each of the seven standards.
HCC’s self-study process began in Fall 2019 and will culminate in Spring 2022 with a site visit at the MSCHE evaluation team. This webpage will be continually updated as progress is made.
