Upcoming Events

September 20th (4PM-7PM): Join us as we make and serve dinner to residence of the Welcome One Emergency Shelter in Belcamp, MD.  Transportation to and from the college will be provided.  Must sign up in advance with the Office of Student Activities located in the Student Center.

September 30th (8AM-1PM): Out of the Darkness - Suicide Awareness Walk.  Join the cause and walk or volunteer along the route in order to raise awareness about mental illness and to help lower the number of suicides in America.  Transportation from the college and Havre de Grace, MD.  Must sign up in advance with the Office of Student Activities located in the Student Center.


Recent Events

October 13, 2016: Volunteer Fair at Harford Community College. Local organizations came to campus to raise public awareness of their missions. Students interested in volunteering their time and skills explored options available in Harford County.

October 28, 2016: HCC students volunteered at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore assisting children and families at the zoo's annual ZooBoo! 

February 10, 2017: Harford Community College Students volunteered at The ARC.  The ARC works with people of all ages with physical and developmental disabilities.  Students spent time chatting with residents, decorated Valentine's Day cookies and made cards.  

March 15, 2017: The Welcome One Emergency Shelter is the only full-service emergency homeless shelter in Harford County.  Students were hands on & cooked/served dinner for the 33 residents. 

Alternative Break Program

The mission of the Alternative Break program at Harford Community College is to provide direct service opportunities for students to experience diverse perspectives, learn about social issues, and grow as life-long active citizens.  Students perform short-term projects for community agencies and learn about various social issues.  Trips are subsidized by the Office of Student Activities and scholarships are available.  We encourage all students who are interested to apply.

January 2018 Alternative Winter Break - Houston, Texas

Hurricane Harvey devastated the Houston area of Texas in August 2017 causing billions of dollars in damage and left thousands homeless.  Help residents and local organizations with relief and rebuilding efforts in and around the Houston area over your winter break - January 8th - January 13th.  Trip includes meals, hotel accommodations and flight, cultural activities and all volunteer fees.  For more information on student costs, scholarships, and to fill out an application, visit the Office of Student Activities.  APPLICATIONS ARE DUE - OCTOBER 4TH.

 Must have at least 12 credits to participate.
